Network Requirements for AI Tools
A page loading only confirms that the service is reachable. Full access also depends on your account, region and connection stability.
Region Detection and Exit IPs
AI platforms may use your exit IP, account details, billing region and organization policies to determine eligibility. Before choosing a route, check the platform's current list of supported regions. VPNOB covers 120+ countries and 230+ routes, but coverage in a region does not mean every AI feature is available there.
Shared exit IPs may trigger CAPTCHAs, extra verification or access restrictions. A single failure does not necessarily mean the route lacks bandwidth. First determine whether the issue comes from the network or the platform's security checks, then consider changing exit IPs. Switching regions repeatedly during a session may prompt additional verification.
Persistent Connections and Streaming Responses
Chat tools typically deliver responses in chunks, and some features rely on event streams or WebSockets. A page loading quickly does not guarantee that a long response will finish. Idle timeouts in an intermediate proxy, device sleep, local network changes and missing client rules can all interrupt generation.
Test the full workflow: send a prompt, receive the complete response, ask a follow-up and upload a file if needed. Simply refreshing the homepage is not enough. Quantum encryption is a key part of VPNOB's security messaging, but network encryption does not replace account protection or change a platform's regional policies, access reviews or content rules.
AI Tools and Route Requirements
Use this table to identify what to check, not as a list of guaranteed working services. Refer to each platform's current documentation for service availability, model access and connection methods.
| Tool | Route Requirements | What to Check First | Web Access vs. Developer API Calls |
|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | Meets the service's regional requirements and supports stable, sustained connections | Login redirects, conversation streams and file upload routes | Check web subscription and API access and billing separately |
| Claude | Consistent exit region and a stable connection for long responses | Regional notices, verification pages and attachment requests | Check API credentials and console eligibility separately |
| Gemini | A route in a region supported by the feature you need | Account eligibility, organization policies and sign-in status | Web access and developer APIs may have different eligibility requirements |
| Copilot | Reliable access to sign-in and code-completion services | Distinguish the web assistant from GitHub Copilot | IDE behavior may also depend on plugin proxy settings, authorization and organization policies |
| Midjourney | Stable task interactions and image delivery | Website or Discord entry point and image asset domains | Don't mistake a third-party relay for an official API |
| Cursor | Editor requests can use the selected international exit | Client sign-in, model access and proxy compatibility | Built-in requests and terminal subprocesses may use different routes |
A common troubleshooting mistake with ChatGPT and Claude is treating an account access issue as a network problem. With Gemini, also check the specific product entry point and any organization restrictions. Copilot covers multiple products, so specify whether you're using the web assistant or code completion in an editor. Midjourney task messages and image downloads may use different routes, while Cursor requires checking both the editor and its integrated terminal.
Domains, sign-in flows and supported regions for these tools can change. When maintaining routing rules, use official documentation and actual requests to identify the relevant paths. Avoid copying fixed domain lists from unknown sources, and never disable certificate validation just to load a page.
Account Access and Session Persistence
First make sure your traffic follows a consistent route, then check whether your account is eligible.
Check Regional and Account Requirements First
Before creating an account with an AI platform, review its region, age, organization and payment requirements. A network route provides connectivity; it cannot grant account eligibility. VPNOB accounts require no email address and can be created with a username and password. This applies only to VPNOB and does not mean other platforms use the same process.
Keep the Same Exit IP During Sign-In
Try to use the same route from the sign-in page through the identity provider redirect to the final app page. If your rules cover only the main site but the sign-in callback uses another exit IP, you may get stuck in redirect loops or fail to save your session. Check your routing rules, browser cookie settings and system time before switching regions repeatedly.
Follow the Platform's Verification Process
If you encounter a CAPTCHA or additional identity check, follow the platform's normal process rather than repeatedly submitting it automatically. If the notice says your account is disabled, your organization has blocked access or your region isn't supported, consult the relevant official guidance. Clearing site data will end your session, so save any work in progress first. Don't post cookies, session tokens or subscription links in public forums while troubleshooting.
A web subscription, API quota and developer organization access are separate benefits. Being able to chat on the website does not mean an API key has the same model access.
API, IDE and CI Configuration
Once your browser connects, check that the process actually sending requests uses the same network configuration.
Command-Line Tools and SDKs
Browser proxy settings usually don't cover every terminal program automatically. Check whether your SDK's HTTP client supports proxy environment variables, an application-level proxy or the system proxy, then configure it according to the documentation. Common variable names include HTTPS_PROXY, HTTP_PROXY and NO_PROXY. Support for letter case and proxy protocols varies by tool.
Use the proxy address shown by your local client; don't copy someone else's port. If NO_PROXY mistakenly includes the destination service, requests will bypass the proxy. If it omits an internal service address, local development may be affected. Restart the relevant process after making changes, and confirm the settings aren't only present in a different terminal window.
Streaming API Requests
For event-stream API calls, check how the SDK, reverse proxy and application server handle read timeouts and buffering. If the upstream has returned data but the page still doesn't display it, application-layer buffering may be the issue, not a broken international route. Before retrying, check whether the request has already been processed or billed; duplicate calls may not be free.
IDE Plugins and Integrated Terminals
Development tools such as Cursor and GitHub Copilot may use separate processes for sign-in, code completion, chat and terminal requests. The editor's proxy settings may not carry over to plugin hosts or child processes, and terminal environment variables may not affect an editor that's already running. Test sign-in, completion and terminal requests separately, and note which layer fails.
In remote development, requests may originate from the remote host rather than your local computer. A container, remote workspace and local machine are separate network environments. Seeing a connection in your local client does not prove that remote tasks use the same exit IP.
CI and Secret Management
For CI jobs, check the runner's region, outbound access policies and organization-approved proxy methods. Your personal computer's route settings do not automatically apply to hosted runners. Store API keys in your CI secrets manager, and redact authorization headers and sensitive data from logs. Never put live credentials in a repository, build artifact or troubleshooting screenshot.
In enterprise environments, follow your organization's network and data policies. VPNOB's unlimited-device allowance describes device usage; it does not mean an AI platform permits account sharing, API resale or bypassing organization permissions.
Common Failures and Their Causes
Narrow down the cause based on what you see. Change one condition at a time and keep results for comparison.
The page loads, but the response stops midway. What should I check first?
First check whether other pages disconnect at the same time, then check device sleep, local network changes and client connection logs. If only long responses are interrupted, look at streaming requests, proxy idle timeouts and routing rules. Keep the original route for a comparison, then try another route in the same region. Don't change your browser, account and exit IP all at once, or it'll be difficult to identify the cause.
The service says my region isn't supported. Will switching routes fix it?
Not necessarily. The notice may be based on your exit IP, account region, payment requirements or platform policies. Check the official list of supported regions and your current exit IP, then confirm that sign-in uses the same route throughout. Network reachability does not mean your account meets the service requirements. VPNOB does not guarantee continuous access to any particular platform.
Why do command-line tools or my IDE time out when the browser works?
First check whether the process is using the proxy, whether the proxy protocol matches and whether the destination is excluded from proxying. If you're using a container or remote development environment, check from the environment actually making the request. For certificate errors, verify the system time, certificate chain and organization gateway. Disabling TLS checks is not a recommended routine fix.
The API reports an authorization, quota or rate-limit error. Should I switch exit IPs?
Read the response body and platform documentation first. For authorization failures, check your credentials, project and model access. For quota or rate-limit errors, review billing and your request strategy. A clear application response usually means the request reached the service. Switching exit IPs repeatedly won't fix access permissions or increase your API quota.
Text works, but images, attachments or repository access fail. How should I troubleshoot?
These features may use separate asset domains or be affected by file format, size, permissions or organization policies. Start with the platform's specific error, then check whether the relevant requests are missing from your routing rules. When contacting support, include the tool, operating system, selected route, time of issue and a redacted error message. Don't include API keys or private files.
AI Tool Route Selection Guide
Check regional eligibility first, then connection stability, and finally choose a plan based on your device setup and traffic needs.
For text chats and code completion, prioritize an exit region that meets the platform's requirements and a route that keeps sessions connected. If you frequently upload documents, retrieve images or work with long outputs, test the complete task instead of comparing page load times alone. A nearby region can be a starting point, but distance isn't the only factor. Judge the result using your own network and the tool you're accessing.
IEPL, transit and direct connections are different ways of organizing routes. The name alone doesn't prove a route will work with a particular AI platform. Keep routes in the same region for comparison, first confirm that their exit IPs and rules match your expectations, then see whether they can complete the same task reliably. Don't keep switching regions after a single verification failure, and don't treat any route as a permanent guarantee of eligibility.
VPNOB supports Windows / macOS / iOS / Android / Linux, with unlimited simultaneous devices. Get the client and subscription through the user panel. If access works on your phone but not your computer, compare system proxy settings, client rules and app settings instead of assuming you've reached a device limit.
For ongoing use, compare monthly plans: ¥9.9/month includes 60GB, ¥18/month includes 250GB and ¥28/month includes 500GB. Data resets monthly on the activation date. Mid-cycle upgrades are prorated based on the remaining days. If you use the service less often, consider a data package: ¥158/300GB, ¥358/1000GB or ¥658/3000GB. Data lasts until used and never expires. Don't estimate fixed data usage based on a tool's name; text, images, attachments and background syncing can use very different amounts.
Payment methods: Alipay / WeChat Pay / USDT. A 7-day no-questions-asked refund is available. Before deciding, check the target tool's requirements and your device setup, then compare route types and billing options. Network subscription fees do not include third-party AI tool subscriptions or API usage charges.
